Envisioned as a key international gateway for the National Capital Region (NCR), the project significantly strengthens the country\u2019s aviation infrastructure while boosting both domestic and international connectivity.Developed as the second international airport serving Delhi NCR, the airport will complement the operations of Indira Gandhi International Airport. Phase I has been completed with an investment of approximately \u20b911,200 crore under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Initially, the airport will be capable of handling around 12 million passengers annually, with future expansion plans to increase capacity up to 70 million passengers per year.The airport features a 3,900-meter-long runway designed to accommodate wide-body aircraft. It is equipped with advanced navigation systems, including Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) and modern airfield lighting, ensuring seamless, all-weather, 24\/7 operations.A strong focus has also been placed on cargo and logistics infrastructure. The airport includes a multi-modal cargo hub with an integrated cargo terminal and logistics zones. It is designed to handle over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of cargo annually in the initial phase, scalable to nearly 18 lakh metric tonnes in the future. Additionally, a dedicated 40-acre Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility will further strengthen aviation services.Sustainability remains a key highlight of the project. The airport is being developed as a net-zero emissions facility, incorporating energy-efficient technologies and eco-friendly practices. Architecturally, the design reflects Indian heritage, drawing inspiration from traditional ghats and havelis, thereby blending cultural aesthetics with modern infrastructure.Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, the airport is envisioned as a multi-modal transport hub.
